Angels in America

As we keep reading the play, which I really enjoy, the characters are starting to develop and we know more from the individual scenes. Many of the scenes are funny or very thought provoking. What is your favorite scene from the play that we read so far and why? :)

  1. My favorite scene is Aleskii Antedilluvianovich Prelapsarianov because it made me think about change. Specifically if there needs to be change there first needs to be something for the people to follow. That is to say that people can just move towards change without knowing what they're striving towards or they're going to put into place. Without the theory that Aleskii references the change would fall apart. It really made me think that if there was ever a movement of change, now-a-days for examples, it really does need to know what it is going to change into and how.

  2. Well my favorite character is Rabbi Chemelwitz because he give good advise to all the people at Sarah's wedding. He tells everyone that it is necessary for humans to change to new environments so that they can survive and advance in society. I think his philosophy is correct and tells people to embrace change. The only way to be successful is to move forward. I liked his remark that Sarah was the last of the Mohicans because I liked his reference and his metaphor.

  3. My favorite scene so far would be the scene where Roy tells Henry that he "doesn't have AIDS", but instead he has liver cancer. I have no idea why I like this scene, it just stands out to me as one of the key parts in the character development of Roy, who happens to be one of my favorite characters next to Ethel and Belize. I think I might like this scene so much because it helps me understand what the AIDS epidemic truly was at that time. None of us had any way of knowing how groundbreaking the disease was, or how innovative the medicine must've seemed but I find it cool that we get so much information on both the history of AIDS and Roy's stubborn, hard-headed, and adamant personality all at the same time in such a short scene. It just sticks out to me.
